- Even the most sensitive of human ears can barely detect sounds above 20khz, with most
- people topping out around 18khz. But let's give everyone the benefit of the doubt
- and say 20khz for all. Using the Nyquist sampling theorem, we'd have to sample at
- twice that rate to avoid intersymbol interference (this from my Communications
- systems class in college) plus a little for overhead bringing us to a total of
- 44.1khz. This is easily covered using a 16-bit resolution.

- Don't be fooled by the marketing ploy used by Creative labs (you know SoundBlaster 32
- AWE, etc). These are still 16-bit sound cards. I believe the 32 is for 32 voices,
- but 32 sounds twice as advanced as everyone else's 16-bit cards, right?

- Good idea. We really need to follow the examples of Matrox, Diamond, Creative Labs
- (not their marketing, mind you..) and utilize the new 3D accelerator chips, and MPEG
- hardware playback support, etc.

- (but not letting them take over the entire graphics department), while not loosing
- the on-the-motherboard sprites?
